How will I know if you are the right therapist for me?

Your connection with your therapist is the most important factor for therapy to be effective.  Research show this.  You want to find a therapist who you trust, who you will connected to and feel supported by.  After meeting with a therapist, you want to consider:

  • Can I be honest with this person?

  • Do I feel safe opening up about personal issues?

  • Do I feel like this therapist gets me and understands where I'm coming from?

  • Are they listening to me?

And the most important

  • Do I like this person?

You deserve a therapist that you like and trust.

What can I expect during my first session?

During our first few sessions, we will get to know each other.  I want to understand your current concerns and what is contributing to them.  I’ll ask you questions about your past & how you are feeling now. I'll also ask about your goals for therapy & what your ideal future would look like.  That way we have a roadmap for where we are going.   I'll also assess for your strengths.  Therapy with me is very collaborative.  I want you to feel empowered and capable of making positive changes.  And I will be there to listen, provide support & ask questions that will help you gain a better understanding of yourself and those around you.

How long will counseling or therapy take?

It really depends on your goal(s).  Some clients come in with a specific goal and we stay very focused on accomplishing that goal.  For example, maybe you want to learn how to decrease your anxiety.  That can usually be accomplished fairly quickly in just a few sessions.  Or maybe you want to work through a childhood filled with tough traumas; that could take longer.  The length of treatment is a discussion we will have.  Regardless, if we meet for just a handful of sessions or many months, I want you to feel empowered at the end of our time together and also feel satisfied that we met your goals.

Session Fees?

My sessions cost $150 per a 50 minute session.  Payment, in form of cash, check or credit card, is expected at time of service.

Do you take insurance?

Currently, I do not take insurance.  If you have a PPO insurance plan, I can provide you with an invoice (called a Superbill) that you can submit to your insurance provider for possible reimbursement.  Session fees may be partially reimbursed or used towards meeting a deductible, depending on your insurance coverage. It is best to contact your insurance provider prior to starting therapy to verify what may or may not be covered by your plan.

QUESTIONS TO ASK YOUR INSURANCE PROVIDER:

1. Do I have Out of Network behavioral health benefits?

2. Do I have a deductible, how much is it and has it been met?

3. What is my Out of Network reimbursement rate per session?

4. How many sessions are covered per calendar year?

Do you offer sliding scale appointments?

I do offer a few sliding scale openings in my practice.  Please contact me discuss; I do not want finances to prevent anyone from receiving quality mental health care treatment.

Office Location & Logistics

My office is located in the neighborhood of Playa Vista at 12777 West Jefferson Blvd, Los Angeles, CA., 90066.  There is free street parking next to the building, one block away on McConnell Ave. Some clients choose to park at the Whole Foods across the street.  There is also a pay lot directly in front of the building.

Do you offer Teletherapy Sessions?

Yes!  Teletherapy sessions are possible.  Teletherapy is providing therapy through a live video connection, over the internet. I provide the same treatment as I do in person, it's just done through a computer. It’s great for clients who travel often or have difficulty making it into my office for one reason or another.  If you've ever used Skype on your computer or FaceTime on your iPhone, you've used the same type of technology teletherapy uses. For my sessions, I use a free software called VSee. It is HIPPA compliant. The session fee is the same as in person therapy.

What is your late cancellation policy?

Each appointment is reserved for you. If you need to cancel, I require at least 24-hour notice from your scheduled session time.  This allows the opportunity for someone else, who is in need, to benefit from the availability. If you do not give 24-hour notice, you are responsible for your full fee.  Please call or text, 310-554-8670, to cancel. I appreciate your understanding.
